UCLA QB Josh Rosen threw three interceptions for only the second time in his career against Texas A&M last year, but the impression he left on Aggies coach Kevin Sumlin couldn’t have been stronger. In fact, Sumlin believes the Bruins junior is the best in the game at his position.

“I think that Josh Rosen is the best quarterback in the country. We’ve got our work cut out for us. He’s not only a guy with great arm talent, he’s very smart. There’s things that you saw during that game (last year) and you could see him changing things at the line of scrimmage,” Sumlin said earlier this week at a convention of the Texas High School Coaches Association, per 247 Sports. “… We hit him a bunch. The game was over and he got up, came back out there and put them back in with a chance to win the game and put it into overtime.”

It’s not uncommon wholesale jerseys for coaches to issue praise to future opponents, and Sumlin isn’t finished dealing with Rosen and the Bruins. Texas A&M will play UCLA again on Sept. 3 in a season-opening game at the Rose Bowl to complete the second game of a two-year contract between the non-conference foes. The Aggies won last year’s game, 31-24, on an overtime touchdown run by Aggies QB Trevor Knight, now of the Arizona Cardinals. Rosen completed 26-of-46 passes for 343 yards despite absorbing five sacks.

“He’s got real talent but the intangibles, he’s got too,” Sumlin said. “Arm talent is one thing but he’s tough and he’s smart. When you’ve got all three of those, we’ve got a problem on our hands.”
Rosen will return from shoulder surgery this fall following an injury that cost him six games as a sophomore. analyst Daniel Jeremiah sees a potential franchise NFL quarterback in Rosen, but has noticed a tendency to be careless with the ball at times. Sumlin, however, has seen all he needs to see to be a Rosen believer.
